Reading Apprenticeship (RA) helps teachers support students across the disciplines and levels to become motivated, strategic, and critical readers, thinkers, and writers, to develop positive literacy identities, and to engage with challenging academic texts.

Calling all BSI coordinators and educators connected to Student Equity, SSSP, and the Basic Skills Transformation grant! This free three-hour event will be an opportunity to discuss the current state of the Basic Skills Initiative and efforts to integrate the various grant funding streams.

This introductory RA event will focus specifically on using RA in ESL classes.
September 30: Introduction to Habits of Mind at Sacramento City College: https://hom_intro_09_30_16.eventbrite.com
Join us to learn more about key Habits of Mind that students need to succeed. We’ll explore the ways these Habits support a student’s sense of direction, focus, engagement and connection. Collaborate with others to develop practices that build these Habits and show students that they are valued, supported and cared about.
In addition, please save the date for two Equity Book Talks hosted by College of Marin on October 13 and December 8.
