RA in STEM Workshop at Foothill College

A mighty group of STEM faculty from Foothill College hosted an Introductory RA in STEM workshop on October 17.  They were joined by colleagues from Skyline and Chabot to learn how we can apprentice our students into our disciplines by making transparent our expert knowledge and ways of reading.

Theresa Martin, Biology Instructor from College of San Mateo, and Denise Hum, Math Instructor from Canada College, lead interactive presentations highlighting how they draw upon Reading Apprenticeship to help their students find greater success in their courses.

The Reading Apprenticeship framework draws on the strengths students and faculty bring to build confidence and power to their work with texts, concepts, and each other.
